June is Seniors’ Month in Ontario

June is Seniors’ Month in Ontario
2017 marks the 33rd annual Seniors’ Month. The Ontario Ministry of Seniors Affairs has established this years theme as “Living Your Best Life”

For Community Care Northumberland this is always a busy time of the year with celebrations, public awareness activities, special recognition events, and some agency fundraising all to involve as many people in the community as possible.

Kicking off the month on June 1st will be the Annual Gloria Payne Seniors Picnic and Info/Health Fair in Port Hope at the Lions Centre- 29 John Street in Port Hope. RSVP’s are required to the Port Hope as this is always a popular and fun event celebrating the senior citizens of Port Hope.

On June 2nd a special celebration is being held for all CCN volunteers. If you are a volunteer, you should have received your invitation to our 2nd Annual Northumberland County Volunteer Appreciation event. This will be a fun, informative and celebratory time to recognize our volunteers, learn about new CCN programming, meet new and old volunteers and touch base with CCN staff. The event is being held at the Alderville First Nations Community Centre from 10:30 am followed by a light lunch. Please RSVP to a CCN office and join us in this special day.

Dust off your golf clubs for June 7th as our 20th Anniversary “Caring Fore our Community Golf Tournament” kicks off at Timber Ridge Golf Club in Brighton. This event has been a great fundraiser for CCN and always brings out the best weather for our intrepid golfers. If you are interested in volunteering a few hours please connect with our Admin office –

Wrapping up the month of June will be Community Care Northumberland Annual General Meeting. The AGM is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate some significant employee milestones and look forward to the year ahead. The AGM will be held in Campbellford this year on June 20th.

Join CCN at one of these events to help recognize June as Seniors Month in Ontario and help everyone in Living Your Best Life!  - Trish Baird, Community Care Northumberland
