Secure kiosks set up for sharps disposal

Secure sharps kiosks have been installed, or soon will be, in 10 different locations around Kingston, said a news release this week from the Kingston Community Health Centres.
"People in the community use needles/sharps for different reasons," the release said, "including medical ones, and there is a need for 24-hour public access to safe places to dispose of them."

The release went on to say that the secure kiosks will keep the community safe by preventing needle-poke injuries.

The kiosks can be found at Woodbine Park, Lake Ontario Park, Confederation Park, McBurney Park, Douglas Fluhrer Park, KPTrail locations at Joseph Street and Montreal Street, Belle Park as well as Headway Park and the KCHC Parkette on Weller
Avenue.
