Grants help police deal with mental health calls

The Brockville Police Service, with the Smiths Falls and Gananoque police services will receive $210,700 in funding to help them better respond to addiction and mental health issues, poverty and at-risk youth.

The grant will enable them to form a group called Joining Forces: A Collaborative Community Policing Initiative in Eastern Ontario.  Members will be trained specifically to respond to mental health related calls.
