The Alzheimer Society of KFL&A is excited to offer a creative and socially engaging respite service for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Funded with the support of the Greater Kingston Community Foundation, the Drop in Centre will provide a three hour respite service once a week.
Interested participants will be interviewed to determine suitability for the program. Once the program is full for each week additional participants will be placed on a wait list.
Our goal is to provide respite for the care partner and a social and supportive environment for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
The Drop in Centre will be facilitated by an Education & Support Coordinator and volunteers. The Drop in Centre will provide meaningful recreational activities that reflect the interests of participants. The activities will include but are not limited to physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, creative, humor and vocational activities.
The cost is free to join however spaces are limited to 10 participants each week.
The Drop in Centre will run the first and third Tuesday of the month from 9-12pm, and the second and fourth Tuesday of the month 1-4 pm.
