Core Fundamentals is an eight-week program intended for those working in the health system who have an interest in developing their capacity related to hospice palliative care.

The Core Fundamentals curriculum includes:

  • In-person learning sessions
  • E-learning modules
  • Self-directed reading
  • Peer-to-peer sessions

In-person learning sessions:

All in-person sessions are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Fairmount Home, 2069 Battersea, Rd. Glenburnie, ON

Session 1: March 22. 2018
Session 2: April 12, 2018
Session 3: May 3, 2018
Session 4: Enhanced Fundamentals for Regulated HCP – May 16, 2018, Venue to be determined

Roles can include:

Volunteers, Personal Support Workers, Recreational therapists, Housekeeping, Dieticians, Social workers, Case Coordinators, Directors of Care, Developmental Service Managers, Students, Health Administration, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Professionals, Physical Therapists, Nurses, Pharmacists, Family Health team staff, Emergency Medical services, Mental Health Case Managers

The Enhanced Fundamentals, a full day session, along with self-directed learning, is a prerequisite for the Comprehensive Advanced Palliative Care Education (CAPCE) Program.

To participate in the Enhanced Stream of the Fundamentals program, the learner must:
Be a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN); and
Have successfully completed the Core Fundamentals program.
