Position Summary (Position 200053)
Responsible for providing leadership and expertise in the development of the Payroll, Finance and Purchasing Departments that supports the Organizational Standards and ensures that financial and budgetary best practices are in place for the organization by interpreting and ensuring compliance with the Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards, Canada Revenue Agency, collective agreements, and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care accountability agreements. This mandate will be achieved by: developing, implementing, administering and evaluating financial systems, including internal controls, policies and programs; providing professional and technical guidance, support and direction; and fostering alliances both internal and external to the organization.

Description:  

Education 
  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA)
  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration/Commerce or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Five years accounting or payroll experience at the professional level.
  • Experience working with integrated financial accounting or payroll software in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in an organizational leadership role.
  • Experience in a management role preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Demonstrated:

  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of payroll legislation.
  • Excellent working knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated advanced software proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
