Position:  Coordinator- Spiritual Health Services

Description:  

Summary of Duties: 
  • Reporting to the Manager of Communications and Community Engagement, the Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of spiritual health services for patients, families and staff at Quinte Health Care and work as the primary Spiritual Health Practitioner at QHC Belleville General Hospital.
Qualifications Required
  • Undergraduate degree and a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent Post Graduate Degree with relevant theological/spiritual studies plus five (5) years of recent related clinical experience
  • Minimum of one advanced Clinical Pastoral Education unit
  • Current Membership with Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC)
  • Eligibility for membership as a Registered Psychotherapist in the Ontario College of Registered Psychotherapists is an asset
  • Endorsement by a recognized religious or faith group
Responsibilities:
  • Provide multi-faith, non-denominational spiritual healthcare services to patients, families and staff at QHC Belleville General Hospital that is respectful of cultural, traditional, and religious diversity and support ethical discussion and difficult decision making by patients, their family and staff.
  • Be available and accessible to patients, family and staff experiencing spiritual distress.
  • Facilitate a variety of staff support strategies nurturing collaboration and supportive community.
  • Act in a consultative capacity for staff when dealing with religious or culturally specific practices/rituals.
  • Act as a team player within an interdisciplinary team to achieve excellence in patient centred care.
  • Work collaboratively with the on call spiritual health practitioners at QHC Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, QHC Trenton Memorial Hospital, and QHC North Hastings Hospital in providing and/or coordinating spiritual health care services.
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteer on call spiritual health practitioners and lay pastoral care visitors.
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals and community support groups in educational endeavours related to the needs of patients and families.
  • Develop strong partnerships with local spiritual leaders to provide consultation and support on spiritual issues and to optimize the available spiritual health support available to patients, staff and physicians.
  • Explore and develop financial partnerships to support Spiritual Health Services.
