The Orthopaedic Technician/Technologist provides services in a manner consistent with HDH Mission, Vision and Values and that reflects the core values of Patient and Family Centred Care (dignity, respect, information sharing, participation, and collaboration). As defined by the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists, the Orthopaedic Technician/Technologist provides care to patients with orthopaedic problems.  Duties include but are not limited to: making clinical decisions regarding the application, adjustment, and removal of orthopaedic equipment; recording all pertinent patient information; collaborating and consulting with members of the healthcare team regarding patient care; and maintaining orthopaedic equipment; and the management of orthopaedic supplies; collaborating and communicating effectively with clients, families and all members of the health care team of multidisciplinary professionals and support personnel; participating in service and hospital wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centred environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

Region:  Frontenac & Kingston

Description:  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years related experience as an Orthopaedic Technician/Technologist
  • BCLS certification at the Health Care Provider Level
  • Current Criminal Reference Check (CRC) that includes a Vulnerable Sector Search administered by the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC)
  • Proven good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capable of coping in a physically and mentally demanding work environment
  • Able to function independently as well as interdependently
  • Proven good attendance record
     

 
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Orthopaedic Technologist with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT) or willingness to register as a Student Member
  • Recent experience in adult orthopaedic care
  • Experience in paediatric orthopaedic care
  • Proficiency in speaking and comprehending both English and French
