South East Local Health Integration Network

The South East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) is one of 14 networks established by the province to plan, manage, and fund the health care system at the local and regional level. Promoting integration and networking among our health care resources is already showing results. The South East region extends from Brighton on the west to Prescott and Cardinal on the east, north to Perth and Smith Falls, and back to Bancroft.

Position:  Privacy and Security Coordinator

Region:  Frontenac & Kingston, Hastings


Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Enabling Technologies, the Privacy and Security Coordinator will play a key role in the successful implementation and adoption of eReferral and SHIIP technology in the South East LHIN. The Privacy and Security Coordinator supports the implementation of the SCA and SHIIP program’s privacy and security framework and policies associated with electronic referral and care coordination. This role will provide support on privacy issues and training to local stakeholders and will work to enhance stakeholders’ readiness and ability to participate in the SCA program, eReferral process and SHIIP. The individual selected will need to build and sustain numerous stakeholder relationships and work with and learn from the privacy and security supports within the SCA and SHIIP program to ensure a successful implementation in the South East LHIN.

More specifically, as the Privacy and Security Coordinator, you will:
  • Implement and oversee all the participation agreements for local SCA and SHIIP participants
  • Oversee all activities related to the local development, implementation, and maintenance of the Program’s privacy policies
  • Engage with stakeholders to conduct privacy training, perform compliance monitoring activities and managing user accounts
  • Conduct regular assessments, audits and reporting on privacy and security risks
  • Train users on the specific issues, requirements, policies, and processes to ensure that the use of assets is in accordance with the Program, provincial and federal privacy and security guidelines
  • Identify and track the type of consent provided by the Health Client during an encounter with a Health Service Provider
  • Ensure alignment with the SCA and SHIIP program standards to obtain, store, and communicate individual’s consent to share information
  • Work with the program team in the execution of work plans and activities to support project implementation
  • Anticipate risks and issues to Project Manager and collaborate with team to provide mitigation strategies
  • Work with system partners to remove barriers to change
  • Maintain information exchange and collaboration with the SCA Program Privacy and Security lead to ensure local efforts align with the broader program vision
  • Other duties as assigned

We seek a profile that includes:
  • Degree in Health Informatics Management or Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C)
  • Minimum of 2 years in similar role or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of provincial and federal laws and regulations concerning information privacy and security
  • Experience working with health care practitioners in the deployment of eHealth Clinical Applications
  • Ability to communicate privacy related information effectively and clearly to a wide variety of stakeholders and audiences
  • Ability to manage frequent demands of multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent relationship building and negotiation skills
  • Ability to travel within region/LHIN
  • Comfortable with presenting to large group of people
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Goal oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

Terms of Employment:  Full-time Temporary up to March 2019
