Quinte Health Care

Quinte Health Care provides a wide range of high quality health care services to 160,000 people living in the diverse region of Prince Edward and Hastings Counties and the southeast portion of Northumberland County. Care is provided through four hospitals - QHC Belleville General Hospital, QHC North Hastings Hospital, QHC Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and QHC Trenton Memorial Hospital - and includes four emergency departments, operating rooms at three sites, a rehabilitation day hospital, children's treatment centre, ambulatory care clinics, community mental health programs and a range of diagnostic services. Position:  Cardiologist Opportunities

Description:  

Quinte Health Care (QHC) is seeking two Cardiologists to join our Medicine and Critical Care team at Belleville General Hospital, located in southeastern Ontario.

Hospital practice – Quinte Health Care
As part of an acute cardiology practice, the QHC Belleville General Hospital duties include: call coverage; inpatient consultation; and interpretation of echocardiograms, EKGs, and ambulatory monitoring. This is a busy service with over 4000 inpatient echocardiograms per year.

The Internal Medicine service acts as a clinical teaching unit with several residents supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team, including a Physician Assistant. QHC Belleville General Hospital has 46 acute medical beds, 14 ICU beds, and a busy emergency room. The ICU and Emergency are in modern, recently redeveloped departments. Diagnostic facilities are up-to-date with a multi-slice CT, MRI and interventional radiology and full imaging support from an excellent radiology team and nuclear medicine specialists. The Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is accessible from home or office.

Members of the Department of Medicine and Critical Care work in a collegial atmosphere and include specialists in cardiology, critical care, general internal medicine, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, respirology and oncology and nephrology.

The QHC Department of Medicine and Critical Care operates in close conjunction with our tertiary partners at Kingston General Hospital. There will be opportunities for faculty appointment, resident supervision, and a variety of CME opportunities in conjunction with Queen’s University.

Qualifications
  • Successful applicants will possess Royal College certification in Cardiology and will be eligible for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Must have Level II echocardiography training, level III qualification would be an asset. Excellent communication and team skills, and demonstrated leadership potential will be an asset. Recently qualified cardiologists and current final year trainees are welcome to apply.
  • Community Practice Opportunities Outpatient clinic space within the hospital can be discussed with hospital administration on a contract basis, which could entail availability of hospital resources including Echo, ambulatory monitoring, ECG, stress-testing, nuclear stress test and cardiac CT.
  • The Cardiology Services Group (a cardiology outpatient community practice) is currently looking for a cardiologist who has an interest in community cardiology with its emphasis on continuing comprehensive care and providing timely access to cardiac diagnostic tests and clinical cardiac assessment. The community cardiology group practices in a new 7000 sq foot building, a ten-minute walk from the hospital. This office practice provides outpatient care to the entire region and includes cardiology consultation and follow-up care, echocardiography, stress testing and ambulatory monitoring. Application to their group though remains independent from the hospital-based job opportunity.
