Lanark Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health

Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health offers services and programmes to people who are experiencing mental health or addiction issues.

Mental health services are provided for individuals who are 16 years and older and addictions services to persons of any age. It is our goal to ensure that you have the skills and tools in place to live rewarding lives. We also recognize that family members and caregivers play a significant role within our client’s circle of care. Our programming includes support for family members and caregivers through counselling and group related activities.

The majority of our programs are funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MoHLTC) through the South East Local Health Integration Network (SE LHIN). Some of our programmes are made possible by the generous grants of the United Way Leeds and Grenville, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and the Ministry of the Attorney General. We are proud of the partnerships we build to better serve our clients.

Position:  Casual Rehabilitation Worker I

Region:  Leeds & Grenville

Reports to: Clinical Manager

The Residential Recovery Rehabilitation Worker 1 will engage and work with clients on an individual basis to achieve goals as outlined in the clients Recovery Plan of Care. The Rehabilitation worker will use hands on training techniques, supporting and encouraging clients on a daily basis to improve life skills, social/ interpersonal relationships, effective use of leisure time, encourage participation in events, the development of natural friendships and to take responsibility for their personal wellness and cooperative living chores.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Provide education to clients regarding home safety practices
• Supervise clients’ living in the group/residential homes by promoting a healthy environmental milieu specifically focusing on evening house routines
• Establish a therapeutic relationship with clients
• Oversee the upkeep of the home to address health and safety of residents
• Monitor client compliance with medication regimes
• Respond to crisis situations as they arise and forward the Crisis Incident Report to the Clinical Manager
• Engage the client in daily activities using engagement techniques based on the individual’s strengths, interests, etc. and to encourage and support the client to achieve their optimum level of functioning
• Ensure medication supervision where required with clients to increase compliance for supper and evening medications
• Maintain confidential client files and records
• Participate in community education or community related activities and/or community development activities
• Support the client/member to participate in social and recreational activities
• Implement and facilitate activities

Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:

• A minimum of a college diploma in a related discipline having worked 2 years in a health related field
• Experience in Addictions and Mental Health
• Current CPR and First Aid Certificates
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
• Demonstrated crisis intervention skills/experience
• Mental Health Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care guidelines, PSR Code of Ethics, Best Practices, LLGAMH program standards

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to work independently and interdependently
• Strong problem solving abilities
• Requires analytical skills to gather and disseminate data from different sources
• Ability to adapt to changing environments
• Respond to crisis situations as they arise
